Newscopy: "Like a cloud that floated down in greeting, a white puff of smoke rises from the muzzle of the bow gun of the Chilean training ship Esmeralda as she enters the Golden Gate under all canvas. The ship's salute to San Francisco was answered by shore batteries. One of the few large sailing vessels still in service, the four-masted barkentine will be docked at Treasure Island until April 25. Her complement of 300 includes midshipmen from Chile, Ecuador and Peru.".
